Black Mountain, NC (July 2011) – The Black Mountain-Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the 2011 Sourwood Festival with a music tent benefit and gathering at the Monte Vista Hotel, 308 West State St. Guests will enjoy great hors d'oeuvres, wonderful music, cash bar and raffle prizes. The event takes place on Tuesday, July 19, 5:30- 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance ($8 for chamber members) and $12 at the door and may be purchased at the Chamber Visitor Center , 201 East State St. and at the Monte Vista Hotel. All proceeds from the event will be used to offset the costs of the Sourwood Festival music lineup. Sourwood Festival music is a traditional favorite with many locals and tourists alike.
The Monte Vista Hotel has graciously provided an exciting raffle prize: an evening out in downtown Black Mountain starting with dinner for two at Palate and one night deluxe accommodations at the hotel. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held on August 14th after the Sourwood Festival. Raffle tickets will be sold at the July 19 event and later at the Chamber, the Monte Vista Hotel, and the Chamber booth at the Sourwood Festival.
This year’s thirty-fourth annual festival is Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 and features over 200 booths of arts and crafts, food of all kinds, rides and games for children, and musical acts performing every half hour. I think that the musicians under the employment of Vista hotel can be hired as a wedding band if a party is booked for marriage in the said place.
The hotel looks like an interesting place to visit; I just hope that someday, I can find time to visit it. Aside from the foods and events that if offers, I’m more curious on the hotel’s interior and exterior design.
