December 1, 2010 (Black Mountain, NC) — Revel in the holiday spirit in Black Mountain this weekend! The town is hosting a variety of fun-filled holiday events for all ages:
Friday, December 3: Holly Jolly Christmas. The shops in downtown Black Mountain stay open late and offer refreshments, luminaries line the streets, Christmas music and cheer. Santa and his sleigh will kick off this event with a parade down Cherry Street followed by a photo opportunity for children of all ages at Santa's wonderland located in the courtyard at Cherry Street Square. Saturday, December 4: Chamber Open House with Mr. and Mrs. Clause, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Come enjoy the hospitality that brings visitors to our area and see what the Chamber/Visitor Center has to offer local residents and visitors. Have your child’s picture made with Santa in the Big Red Rocking Chair for only $10. Refreshments will be provided by the Black Mountain Women’s Club. The Women’s Club will also be collecting socks for area children in need. Bring a pair to hang on the tree or a few for under it.
Saturday, December 4: Black Mountain-Swannanoa Annual Christmas Parade, “Spirit of Christmas,” 4 p.m. This year’s theme evokes all the spirit of the holiday season. The parade is like a step back in time to the good ‘ole days. This year’s grand marshal is our beloved Dr. John and Mrs. Nancy Wilson. Dr. Wilson has been instrumental in the beautification at Lake Tomahawk and the community garden.
Saturday, December 4: “Circle of Lights” starts immediately after the Christmas Parade at Lake Tomahawk. Luminaries line the lake, refreshments, a visit from Santa, carolers from local churches and Christmas music. Black Mountain Recreation and Parks, 828-669-2052.
Dec. 04 - Christmas 4 Kids Festival : 12-4pm at Blk Mtn. Primary field/gym. Games, activities, magic show, raffle, & crafts. Chick-fil-a & snacks for sale. Benefit for Santa Pal in Blk. Mtn.
Dec. 05 - Making Music & a Difference
7pm at First Christian Church, 201 Blue Ridge Rd. Homegrown entertainment benefit for The Ministry of Hope.
